nouveauOceana Dentata ala Dada

“Oceana Dentata ala Dada”, a modern piece by Reed Brown was one that captivated the audience in ways people weren't expecting. The piece begins with Jen Taylor lying n a lounge chair center stage as if she is spending a day on the beach, relaxed... Brown and Katie Crown slowly and meticulously begin to come on stage on wheeled chairs. Both wearing hand crafted masks that look like white porcelain faces, and on their bodies are wearing something that resembles a doctor's uniform. The masks throw the audience for a loop... The masked figures measure and observe Jen in a way that seemed almost uncomfortable. There was extraordinary focus of all those performing. Everyone was on point... The sounds of the ocean come back through the speakers, and the dead still Taylor awakes from what can be best described as a dream sequence. The piece was one of the most captivating of the entire show. ~ Jessica McCoy, Basement Medicine Dec. 2008
